10:10 Campaign
CEL has just signed up to the 10:10 campaign: www.1010uk.org
We invite you to sign up too - whether as an individual or as an organisation.
Find out more about the 1010 campaign by reading this article on 1010 which has been written for printing in parish magazines - ask you parish magazine editor to use it!
1. CEL SIGNS UP TO 10:10 - What is CEL as an organisation doing?
1. The majority of CEL's 12 member Steering Committee have signed up to it
(Some who have not signed are people who have already cut down a lot and do
not see how they can reduce their carbon use by a further 10% this
year)
2. CEL will encourage its members to sign up for 10:10
3. CEL will encourage its members to encourage their churches to sign up for
10:10
We are already doing this by producing resource material - leaflets and a
seven module programme called Ecocell. (see below)
4. CEL will look at the way its voluntary officers do their work for CEL
and see if this work can have its carbon cut by another 10% (This is
unlikely since we have already cut our physical meetings per year from 6 to
4 (or 6 to 3) and replaced the intermediate meetings with telphone
conferences.
Transport, and heating and electricity in people's houses (as they do CEL
work) must be the main CO2 producers.

2. ECOCELL CD AVAILABLE ONLINE
To help people reduce their carbon in 2010 by 10% CEL has produced the resource ecocell - material for running a set of (five to) seven sessions in a house-group or at a set of Lent Groups etc. (This is downloadable, free, or as a CD by sending £5-00 to CEL)
We would be really pleased to hear from goups or individuals that are
using this. If several groups are using it this spring, perhaps we
could put people in touch with each other.
May be we could also form a small email group made up of individuals
who use it this spring - or we could arrange telephone conferences
for people to discuss how it is going.
For those who have completed Ecocell or similar course, and maybe have already cut 10% of your carbon, CEL is now preparing a more in depth resource (currently called Ecocell 2) to help you further reduce your carbon and ecological footprint - this gets harder once you have cut out the easy things. If you are interested in helping prepare and try out this resource please contact Tony Emerson
