No Backtracking on Climate

CEL supporters Ruth Jarman, Pippa Campbell-Clause and Richard Solly joined a demonstration in Westminster on 16/05/2011 to celebrate the news that the government have accepted some of recommendations of the Committee on Climate Change and to press for further action.

The Campaign against Climate Change demonstration started at the Liberal Democrat’s Head Quarters in Cowley Street and marched to Downing Street holding a banner saying “No backtracking on climate”.

An announcement on the government’s response to the Committee on Climate Change’s 4th carbon budget report is expected tomorrow but press over the weekend reported that it will accept the emission targets for the 4th carbon budget period, although more immediate cuts recommended by the committee will not be approved. The protestors called for all recommendations of the committee to be accepted in full and for more radical measures to be taken, commensurate with the size of this crisis.
