Entering for EcoCongregation is very easy.
Sometime people think the initial audit looks a big hurdle but it is not,
and it is a good tool to get people thinking. Carol Birley and Clare Hyde are happy to come to a group at
your church and run the session "Initial Audit" for you if you contact them.

3. ROGATION TYPE SERVICES

3 May Horton in Ribblesdale Lambing service at 3.00pm at Newhouses,
Horton-in-Ribblesdale www.ctisad.org.uk
17 May Bracewell, near Barnoldswick, Lancs. Bracewell Rogation service. 'We begin
in church, and then limit our walking to fields, and farms, gardens around the
village, ending back in the churchyard. The service will begin at 10.30am
17 May Broughton, Skipton -All Saints' Broughton (off the A59 SW of Skipton, in a
deeply rural setting) has always kept Rogation. The service starts at 19.00;
beginning in church (this year's preacher is the Revd Rod Geddes of
Gargrave) then we process, with hymns and prayers, outside to the spring,
the fields, the garden, and back to the churchyard. Then refreshments in the
church hall. It is usually quite an ecumenical, with both Methodists and
Roman Catholics as regular attenders.

4. ENVIRONMENT SUNDAY - 7 June - WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY - 5 June
This is an opportunity for a green service. Here are two events on 14 June, and one
near some of you in the east in May.
14 June Ingleton, Yorks Dales Environmental re think service at Ingleton
(St Mary's). There will be live music, and presentations as well as prayer.
14 June Giggleswick, Settle N Yorks The YWT Living Churchyard Project is
holding an 'Open Churchyard' event in conjunction with the Yorkshire Branch of
the Institute of Biology at St Alkelda's on the afternoon of Sunday 14 June.
Prof Mark Seaward is booked to lead some groups for those interested to study
the lichens and it is hoped to involve other local biologists to cover other
aspects of the wildlife - e.g. flora/insects/birds.
7 May Adel, Leeds St John the Baptist Church , Adel 2.00pm-5.00pm, children’s
activity at 4.00pm A ‘Treasures Revealed’ event (Churches Regional Commission
for Yorkshire and the Humber)- guided walks round the churchyard with people
on hand to explain how the management for wildlife began and how it has evolved.
