A NEW CEL RESOURCE - a journey in practical discipleship for the 21st century

Join the journey and get a group of neighbours together today
As you work through the various modules that make up the course you will discover that there is no cheap, easy or comfortable way out of the planetary crisis we have created.
Instead you are offered a set of tools to frame and guide your prophetic witness. Let them deepen your convictions, impel you to action, and provide the motivational 'sparks' that inspire your passion for Christ and all life on Earth. The tools are based around four key words:
See: understand where we are and how we got here. Each module has facts and information, plus Bible studies to explore where all this ts in with our Christian faith.
Grieve: when we think about the loss and damage to God's world we feel a storm of despair and sorrow in our hearts. Prayers and poetry try to put that sense of loss into words and help you to grieve.
Hope: is the spiritual energy that empowers us to choose to take action to learn, pray, struggle and act so that God's kingdom can be realised in our damaged, exploited and unjust world. Each module has inspirational quotes and hope filled stories of what others are doing to inspire action.
Act: to find ways of living more lightly on the Earth. In each module you measure your current lifestyle, discuss ways to lighten your footprint and measure your progress throughout the course.
The topics covered are:
Module 2: Waste
Module 3: Shopping and food
Module 4: Energy in the home
Module 5: Water
Module 6: Transport and travel
Module 7: Next Steps
The common theme in each module is that we have become a consumerist society, which by de?nition means that we have to buy more and more, and throw more and more away in order to keep the economy going in its present form. However, there is a pressing need for the people in the richer nations to change their lifestyle within the next 40 years. That is a tall order, and in practice our individual emissions are rising year on year, because we are buying more, travelling more, wasting more as each year goes by.
