AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY:
GREEN CHRISTIANS SEEKS NEW EDITOR Closing date: 22 November 2002 Stephanie Boucher, the current editor of Green Christians, Christian Ecology Link's thrice yearly magazine, writes: "I took over the post of editor from Dennis Richards in the summer of 1998, and I am planning to leave in March 2003 when my youngest child is well settled at school. This will enable me to take up new opportunities elsewhere and allow the magazine to continue growing under new leadership. We are inviting applications now for this job which can be done from home on a computer. CEL will pay expenses. Doing this job has enabled me to tap into a rich seam of Christian environmental thinking and I would recommend it to anyone wishing to explore this. It may suit someone hoping to gain experience in editing while expanding their intellectual horizons at the same time. The job itself The job involves commissioning and editing articles, liaising with authors, writing editorials and typsesetting the final text (DTP software is provided). Some experience of editing (parish magazine or other) is helpful but not essential, as I can give training on the job. More important is a commitment to the environmental message and to church, and an interest in the written word. The editor is well supported by an editorial team, the Journal Committee, who meet with him/her to plan each issue, give suggestions and smooth away problems. They also take responsibility for parts of the magazine such as book reviews. The support of this committee is ongoing in between meetings. There are additionally two proof-readers who help maintain the overall standard. Members of CEL's Steering Committee also provide support and direction. If you are interested, don't miss this opportunity to be part of an important process of change! Contact.... Stephanie Boucher Editor or David Penney Journal Committee |
