CEL at Greenbelt 2009
Martin Davis who has his own blog helped on the CEL stall and writes:
Of course, masses of those at Greenbelt seemed intent on other things than climate justice or a greener church: that's why CEL is needed.
However, the people who bothered to stop by seemed keen to meet up with others in their local area: I collected quite a few email addresses, and have been busy since I returned putting people in touch with one another.
It's good to be able to help with the sort of introductions and connections that only a national organisation like CEL can make."
As an example, two different individuals called by at the stall from Northampton: I took their details and put them in touch with one another, to see if they could start on doing CEL-type work in that area. Neither are at present members, but who knows, they might join up.
We certainly collected a good number of names of people wishing to join our news mailing list.
We shared the stall with Eco-congregation, which had a number of supporters at the Festival, so I was able to give them our "Environmental audit for churches" leaflet.
Four of us were wearing CEL T shirts during my sessions.
