June Village Green Corner 2007
Joy
In Village Green Corner, we are looking at each of the ecological virtues that are the "fruit of the spirit" in the Bible. The second one is Joy.
William Blake's poem is a passionate prayer that the innocent joy of a new born baby will continue into its future.
I have no name

I am but two days old. -
What shall I call thee?
I happy am
Joy is my name. -
Sweet joy befall thee.
Pretty joy!
Sweet joy but two days old.
Sweet joy I call thee;
Thou dost smile,
I sing the while
Sweet joy befall thee.
Innocence and goodness are implicit in the word Joy. Can we really en-joy creation, this beautiful blue planet, if we are doing things that are harmful to it? Can we really enjoy a far-flung family holiday more than one in the UK or France , knowing what we know now about the impact of the journey on the stability of the earth's climate for the next generation? I believe the best way to live joyfully now is to ensure that by our actions we are not lessening the potential for joy for our children.
June Top Tip: -
Plan a Joyful Journey!
A tonne of CO2 emitted by a plane is 3 times more damaging than one emitted by a car. Enjoy your holidays in the UK or Northern Europe this year so you don't have to partake in climate-damaging air travel.
