Membership categories

Christian Ecology Link (CEL) is now in contact with many people, and this page sets out to describe the different categories. The first four categories do NOT count as membership categories.

If you live abroad and wish to subscribe in Euros or US dollars using online payment, please email the treasurer saying that you are going to do this and then donate the money by visiting our donate page . Tou can join this way in the UK too, though we prefer standing orders.

1. Monthly news email contact:

Anyone who would like to receive CEL's "Members and Friends monthly email" is welcome to email in and request to be put on this list. If you know of other people who might like to receive it free, do invite them. Contact webeditor

2. ChurchLink

Formerly we had a twice yearly A4 poster and newssheet sent to any church in Britain that requests it to display on their notice board. FREE. In 2008 this will have been replaced by the annual "Storm of Hope" publication sent free to all churches who have registered for ChurchLink. To request this email churchlink@christian-ecology.org.uk

3. Prayer Diary

You can arrange to be sent CEL's highly recommended monthly prayer diary, whether you are a member or not. It has a different meditation, prayer or news item for prayer for each day of the month. This costs £8-00 a year for 12 paper issues. It can also be received free by email. See prayer guide

4. Magazine Subscriber

This entitles you to 2 issues of Green Christian each year plus the new Storm of Hope Annual. due out in spring 2008

We encourage people from Europe to become magazine subscribers and to become CEL members, via INK using visa card etc as this reduces bank charges for us. People from UK can become magazine subscribers using INK, but we prefer UK people to send standing orders to us direct. However if you do join as a Magazine subscriber and then decide to become a member, it is very easy to arrange this.

Note it is actually cheaper to become a full member at the Low Income rate than it is to be a Magazine Subscriber.

£11 per year Standing order: £9-00 per year

Europe : £14 p.a. 20EUR

Outside Europe : £17p.a. 34US$

 

True Membership

We hope you will feel able to support Christian Ecology Link by becoming a member. Choose which category below fits your situation

All the categories below receive

  1. The Green Christian magazine and the CEL Annual brochure:
  2. The email monthly news and the email prayer diary (if requested.)
  3. The opportunity to take part in CELINK, CEL members' email discussion group. If you are a member of CEL please email webeditor@christian-ecology.org.uk to arrange this
  4. Members are entitled to apply for a CEL "small projects grant" of £100 or £200 after they have been a paid up member for at least 9 months.
  5. They also receive two issues of "The Bulletin" a CEL news sheet that comes out on two occasions between Green Christian Issue dates.

5. Individual membership: (This includes standard membership and Low Income membership)

3 issues of Green Christian per year.
2 loose issues of the Bulletin
2 copies of ChurchLink to put on your church notice board.
CEL monthly emails (if you wish)
The chance to join CELINK, CEL members email discussion group (Only open to CEL members).

Active members who can make use of extra copies of Green Christian to sell at local bookshops or to put on local stalls at events should enquire to distribution@christian-ecology.org.uk

Low Income:

6. Family or Joint membership.

Exactly the same as individual membership.
You only receive one Green Christian per household. If you wish to receive more than one Green Christian (at no extra cost) this can be arranged. Contact membersh@christian-ecology.org.uk . All members of the family are entitled to vote at Annual Members Meetings or to stand for Steering Committee.

£28 per year Standing order: £25 per year

 

7. Corporate Membership

Exactly the same as individual membership.
Corporate organisations are entitled to receive 5 sets of each issue of Green Christian. However we do not send five sets unless requested as we do not wish to cause paper waste. Corporate members are entitled to sell the copies on and use the money for "Green Christian Activities" in their organisation if they wish. We also encourage people to put Green Christian in their local bookshops etc.

We welcome being sent the email address of any individual member of the corporate group who would like to receive CEL's Monthly news email. Keen corporate members are also entitled to join CELINK.

£28 per year Standing order: £25 per year

 

8. Local Church Membership

The same as corporate membership.
Member Churches are entitled to receive 5 sets of each issue of Green Christian. However we do not send five sets unless requested as we do not wish to cause paper waste. The local church is entitled to sell the copies on and use the money for "Green Christian Activities" in their organisation if they wish. We also encourage people to put them in their local bookshops etc.

We welcome being sent the email address of any individual member of the church who would like to receive CEL's Monthly news email. Keen church members are also entitled to join CELINK, CEL's email discussion group

We invite all our individual members to encourage their local church to become a member of CEL. If a local church joins, then all its members can "feel good" because they are supporting a worthwhile organisation, and more important, it may lead to some of them find ways themselves of leading greener lifestyles.

Annual donation. Recommended amount: £25 per year  

 

9. CEL Local Group Membership

CEL Local Groups receive the same items as Corporate members and member Local Churches. Local groups tend to be quite active and organise meetings or projects locally. Most are ecumenical, but some are attached to one particular church. See ideas for setting up a local group or contact CEL's local groups coordinator . CEL Local groups tend to have a few full CEL members plus quite a few people who just members of the local group.

Annual donation: Recommended amount £10- £25 per year according to size of group  

 

10. Young People's Forum

This is for young people between 18 and 30 (ish). They are already paid-up members of CEL. Contact Youth@christian-ecology.org.uk
