What churches were invited to do to gain the

CEL Millennium Certificate:

Can you

  • find ten environmentally positive things to do?
  • get all the members of your group involved?
  • tell us and enter for the CEL Millennium Certificate?

In doing so you will be

  • having fun
  • showing other people that taking care of God's world is a Christian responsibility

Leading up to and during the Millennium Year, Christian Ecology Link has been awarding Millennium Certificates to churches or church groups which submit a list of ten "green" activities which they have carried out. The first certificate was awarded to Herringthorpe United Reformed Church in Rotherham

We asked "Can you persuade a group attached to your church to apply for a certificate.. whether the scouts, women's group, badminton group.. or perhaps even the committee responsible for finance and property?"

"When the certificate is awarded, we hope that you will create some publicity and thus encourage others! You might like to have it presented at a special event and tell the local press. In this way we can show other people that taking care of God's world is a Christian responsibility"
