1. GENERAL ELECTION
The upcoming general election gives us all the opportunity to promote democratic choice and to make climate change a doorstep issue. There is an introductory page on CEL's website on 'Ask the Climate Question' campaign.
http://www.christian-ecology.org.uk/ask-the-climate-question.htm
Especially if you live in a marginal seat, get involved with the 'Ask the Climate Question' campaign through:
Tearfund http://www.tearfund.org/Campaigning/Election+2010/Election_ACQ.htm
Christian Aid http://www.christianaid.org.uk/ActNow/election2010/index.aspx
CAFOD http://www.cafod.org.uk/election
Stop Climate Chaos http://www.stopclimatechaos.org/ask-the-climate-question
Whether or not you are in a marginal seat, it is still worth organising a hustings in your area. Go to the CTBI web site: http://www.ctbi.org.uk/CFH/427 for a step-by-step guide on how to go about it.
And when you have organised your event, or when you go to one, go to CEL's web site for ideas of questions to ask such as:
1. Massive reductions in energy use in this country are necessary but will not be easy. How unpopular are you prepared to be? Give us an example of the courage you will show in this area.
2. Addressing climate change requires a paradigm shift in our way of being in the developed world. What will you do to change the culture of our country from one of human-buyings to one of human beings?

2. POST ELECTION SERVICE AND ALL NIGHT VIGIL
London 15th /16th May. The new government may need reminding of the importance of prioritising addressing climate change above the economy, education and the EU.

CaCC are organizing the overnight vigil in Old Palace Yard, outside Parliament. It will continue through the night of 15/16 May until 5am . A venue not far from Parliament will be open all night for
Taize, tea and toilets, and breakfast will be served at 6am .
Please join us. Visit CEL's website for more information.

3. BP FORTNIGHT OF SHAME 1-15 APRIL
Rising Tide ( http://risingtide.org.uk/index.htm ) and others are calling for BP to reverse their plans to move into Canada 's tar sands. According to the NASA scientist Dr. James Hansen humanity can
probably burn all the oil in the earth and survive. But we must leave most of the coal and all of the unconventional fossil fuels, such as tar sands, in the ground. BP must know this, they just need
reminding. The BP Fortnight of Shame runs between the annual Fossil Fools day on April 1st and BP's Annual General Meeting on April 15th. Please pray that the fortnight is effective and let Ruth know if you plan to join the demonstration outside the AGM on the 15th at ruthj@phonecoop.coop .

4. OPERATION NOAH GATHERING
By Cloud and Fire - spiritual journeys to climate safety. The Operation Noah gathering and AGM will be held at 11am , 22nd May, Friends' House, Euston Rd. Michael Northcott, Mary Grey, Paul
Bodenham and you will chart a path through the post-Copenhagen spiritual and political wilderness.
