1. NEW CEL ecocell 2 PROGRAMME

ecocell 2 -- journeys in carbon-free discipleship

STARTS JANUARY 2011

We invite you to take part in this new CEL programme. As the likely participants are spread throughout the country we will run the programme on a 'semi-virtual' basis - i.e, with a combination of electronic communication and face to face meetings.

After the ecocell 2 workshop at our Annual Members Meeting in November, 10 people agreed to take part in this new programme. Additionally many members of our Steering Committee are committed to embarking on this journey.

1) If you would like to take part, please reply to Tony by Saturday Dec 30th. To help you decide please look at:

-- Introducing ecocell --
http://www.christian-ecology.org.uk/introducing-ecocell.htm

-- Stage Two of ecocell --
http://www.christian-ecology.org.uk/ecocell-2.htm

-- and the article by Chris Walton and Paul Bodenham in the current issue of Green Christian magazine, also on the CEL website --
http://www.christian-ecology.org.uk/GC70-ecocell-2.pdf
If you want to discuss further, contact Tony (see contact details below).

2) Before Christmas, we will look at the numbers we have got for the
journey, and where you live, and appoint facilitators for the groups.

We will email all who have signed up:
-- saying who the facilitators and other members are
-- providing an overall Suggested Programme Plan, and with more detail on the plan for the next seven months or so
-- inviting comment and discussion on these plans
-- letting you know the schedule of measurements or recordings required. (For instance, to start taking monthly readings of electricity and gas meters from 1 January.)

3) Some participants may not have attended the Introductory module that we ran in November. One of the facilitators will guide people though this module, using email and our website. (But if these participants are willing, we could hold a face to face group meeting in February.)

4) In January we launch a new website to host our ecocell programme. The ecocell 2 documents you will be accessing above on our main website are being transformed into an attractive format.

5) March 5th, in afternoon of the 'End of the Age of Thorns' CEL conference in London, we will have ecocell 2 group workshops on the 'Energy in the home' module. Those not able to come will be able to access the module on line.

6) In the April CEL e-news we will report on the Energy workshop, pick up on any important points raised and the ecocell eco-accountant will explain how to work out the emissions from the electricity and gas people have used.

7) July 9 at the Magdalen Centre in London from 3pm to 5pm -- we will have a Core module workshop in which we propose to include sessions on 'Visualising the Future' and 'Learning to Live on Rations'; with time for questions on measurement difficulties, and reflection on action so far

8) Each month we will send out a reminder to participants to take their readings, and about the meetings coming up. We will also include some inspirational stories, poems, readings and other inputs relevant to the particular modules people will be undertaking. The Eco-accountant will explain any measurement or calculation process required. We will also invite queries and discussion.

9) Again, please let us know by DECEMBER 18th if you would be willing
to join us on this journey.

our environment and God's creation.
This was a London event, not a national event, and it is reported at this
