Waiting for Thermogeddon ? Pull on your Boots
Waiting for Thermogeddon ? Christian Ecology Link says "pull on your boots !"
Is Climate Change all a bit too much to fight ? Are you going to give up hope, sit back and wait for "Thermogeddon" ? Or are you going to pull on your walking boots for the annual Climate March in London ?
Members of Christian Ecology Link and friends of all denominations and faiths (and none) are being encouraged to take part in the annual London rally and march against Climate Change on Saturday 4th December 2010, starting with a mass photograph publicity event at Speakers Corner, Hyde Park at 12 midday.
Before striding out, all marchers are warmly invited to a meeting of prayer and music at the Church of the Annunciation, Bryanston Street, London W1H 7AH , at 11 am, with an inspirational talk from environmental theologian Edward Echlin, author of the book "Climate and Christ".
Last year, an estimated 4,500 people dressed and painted in blue, packed Methodist Central Hall for prayer and blessing, before forming the 50,000 -strong Stop Climate Chaos "Wave" that took the bridges and streets of Westminster by storm, calling for a successful treaty at the United Nations Copenhagen conference on Climate Change.
We didn't get what we wanted, so we're back ! The 2010 Climate March coincides with the United Nations Climate Change conference in Cancun, Mexico, and will wend its way from Hyde Park to Parliament Square in Westminster, for a Climate Emergency rally at 2pm.
The Campaign against Climate Change is calling for a Zero Carbon Britain by 2030, policies to create a million Climate Change-related jobs in energy and efficiency, a green energy revolution, the expansion of the public transport network, and a range of related sensible, doable measures, which can be achieved even with a pared-down social budget.
