Sheffield Christian Ecology Link Group Ian Jones writes on 14 October 2002: Sheffield and South Yorkshire/North Derbyshire has recently acquired its own local CEL group! We first got together to plan the Friday night debate on "Worldly Goods: God's Blessing or Curse?" at CEL's annual conference in Sheffield in July. Since then, we have represented CEL at Sheffield's annual Green Fair, and are currently taking part in a consultation on local Air Action Zones run jointly by the Stockholm Environment Institute and Sheffield City Council. You can join us at the next meeting of this consultation on Wednesday 23 October (time and place tbc, but join us for a curry afterwards!). On Monday 21 October, we are running a workshop on Christianity and environmental issues at St. Marie's Roman Catholic Cathedral in central Sheffield, as part of a series the cathedral is running on the church's social teaching. So in our short existence, the Sheffield area CEL group has been very active - but come along, get involved, and help us make Sheffield and its churches greener places to be!
